Tom graduated from the University of Montevallo with a Business Degree in 1975. He joined J. H. Berry & Gilbert, Inc. in 1981 in the apartment management division. He became Vice President of property management in 1990. He has responsibility for all multi-family operations and the maintenance division of the company.
